Stockholm is just a two and a half hour flight from the UK, and an excellent destination for a last minute city break. The city is the perfect size to take in on a long weekend, and is bursting with culture, nightlife and things to do for children. Visit the ABBA museum or explore the Vasa ship which sunk in Stockholm harbour only metres into her maiden voyage in 1628. Both museums are on the island of Djurgarden, which is minutes from the city centre but boasts only museums, an amusement park and acres of untouched parkland to explore.

As Stockholm is situated over several islands, one of the best ways to see the city is by water – either on one of the tour boats that feature historical commentary, or rent a kayak and do it yourself!
