Planning a camping trip this summer? Whether you are setting up camp for a weekend in a park campsite or roughing it in the bush, here are necessities you’ll need to bring along:
Basic equipment
- Tent and groundsheet
- Tarpaulin (to hang over a picnic table so you can stay dry in case it rains).
Kitchen Stuff
- Cooking stove and fuel
- Eating and cooking utensils (crockery, cutlery, kettle, cooking pots and pan)
- Cooler Box (if it’s not wildlife-proof make sure you store it carefully at night or anytime you are not at your campsite)
- Waterproof matches/ lighter
- Can opener
- Drinking/ cooking water
Night Time
- Sleeping bag
- Pillows (optional)
- Roll mat or air mattress
- Several Torches with extra batteries
Cleaning Up
- Biodegradable washing up liquid and a washing up bowl
- Small broom and dust pan
- Aluminum foil (great for cooking on the camp fire and wrapping up leftovers)
- Kitchen Roll
- Bin bags
- Rope (to make a clothesline) and clothes pegs
Personal Equipment
- Clothing
- Insect repellent
- Sun cream
- Biodegradable shampoo & soap
- First Aid Kit
